Abu Qilabah narrates: A man from Quraysh named Thumamah was the governor of San'a. When the news of the martyrdom of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) reached him, he wept bitterly while delivering a sermon. When he had composed himself somewhat, he said: Today the caliphate upon the method of prophethood has been taken away from the Ummah of Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Now there will be kingship and tyranny; whoever seizes something will overpower it.
