Kulthum al-Khuza'i states: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I would not be pleased to have shot an arrow at Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him)" - the narrator says: I think he also said - "intending to kill him, (and in exchange for shooting that arrow) to receive gold equal to Mount Uhud, even if that arrow missed its target."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Imran bin Umayr, whom I do not know. The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
