Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 14502

Sayyiduna Ibn Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for permission to enter while a slave-girl was playing the daff. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came in. Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked for permission and came in. Then Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) asked for permission to enter, and the slave-girl stopped. The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Uthman is a modest man."
Ahmad recorded it from a man of the Bajilah tribe, from Sayyiduna Ibn Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him). He did not name that man, and the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
