Sayyidah Sudaysah (may Allah be pleased with her), who was the maidservant of Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her), narrates from Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her); she said: I vowed that if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from Makkah, I would beat the daff and dance. I was still beating the daff when Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked permission to come in. I took the daff, went to a corner of the house and covered it with a sheet. I (Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her), or perhaps Sayyidah Sudaysah (may Allah be pleased with her)) said: O Prophet of Allah! You are more deserving of being feared. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ever since Umar accepted Islam, whenever Satan comes face to face with him, he (that is, Satan) falls on his face."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat.
