Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to visit Sayyiduna Sa'd bin al-Rabi' al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him). His house was in al-Aswaf. His wife spread out a mat for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) beneath a cluster of date palms. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sat down, and we sat with him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Just now a man from the people of Paradise will come before you." Then Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man from the people of Paradise will come before you." Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man from the people of Paradise will come before you." Then Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) came.
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its narrators have been declared thiqat (trustworthy), though there is disagreement about some of them.
