Qays bin Abi Hazim narrates: One day Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) addressed the people from the pulpit of Madinah and said in his sermon: "Indeed, in the Gardens of Eden ('Adn) there is a palace with five hundred doors, and at each door there will be five thousand wide-eyed houris; none will enter that palace except a prophet." Then he turned towards the blessed grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "Congratulations to you, O occupant of this grave!" Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Or a siddiq (will enter it)." Then he turned towards the grave of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "Congratulations to you, O Abu Bakr!" Then he said: "Or a martyr (will enter it)." Then he turned to himself and said: "O Umar, where will you attain martyrdom?" Then he said: "The One Who brought me out of Makkah and made me emigrate to Madinah is also able to bring martyrdom to me." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: So Allah Almighty granted him martyrdom at the hand of a most wicked man, who was the slave of Sayyiduna al-Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him).
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except Sharik al-Nakha'i, and he is thiqah (trustworthy), though there is disagreement about him.
