Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 14341

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: This verse was revealed concerning Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him): "And no one has any favour with him to be repaid; rather, he did it seeking the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High, and that Lord will soon be pleased."
Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Mus'ab bin Thabit, whom Ibn Hibban and others declared thiqah (trustworthy), and there is weakness in him. The remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
