Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: (On the day of the Conquest of Makkah) I brought Sayyiduna Abu Quhafah (may Allah be pleased with him) to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why did you not let the elderly man stay (at home), so that I could have gone to him?" Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Rather, he has more right to come to you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "We would have taken care of him, because of the great favours his son has done for us."
Bazzar recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Abdullah bin Abd al-Malik al-Fihri, whom I do not know. The remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
