وَعَنْ أَبِي وَاقِدٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَوْ كُنْتُ مُتَّخِذًا خَلِيلًا لَاتَّخَذَتُ ابْنَ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ ، وَلَكِنَّ صَاحِبَكُمْ خَلِيلُ اللَّهِ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ الْحِمَّانِيُّ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Abu Waqid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If I were to take anyone as a khalil (intimate friend), I would take the son of Abu Quhafah (as a khalil); but your master is the khalil of Allah."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Yahya bin Abd al-Hamid al-Himmani, and he is da'if (weak).
