Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 14271

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: During his illness the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drew back the curtain, opened the door, and looked at the people who were praying behind Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him). He was pleased by this and said: "All praise belongs to Allah Almighty. No prophet has ever passed away until a man from his Ummah had led him in prayer." Then he turned to the people and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O people, whoever among you faces any calamity after me, let him console himself in the calamity that befalls him by remembering his calamity in losing me, for after me my Ummah will never face a calamity like the calamity of parting from me."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Abdullah bin Ja'far, the father of Ali bin al-Madini, and he is da'if (weak).
