Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: During a journey we were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when a bedouin came along. When he drew near, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: "Where are you going?" He replied: "To my family." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Are you interested in something good?" He asked: "What is it?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That you bear witness that there is no god but Allah Almighty, He alone, He has no partner, and that Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is His servant and His Messenger." The bedouin said: "Who will be a witness to what you are saying?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This tree." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called that tree, which was on the bank of the valley, and it came, furrowing through the ground, until it stood before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked it to bear witness three times, and it bore witness that the matter is just as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying. Then it went back to the place where it grew. When the bedouin was about to return to his people, he said: "If these people follow me, I will bring them to you; otherwise I will come back to you and then remain with you."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
Abu Ya'la also recorded it, and al-Bazzar recorded it.
