Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 14084

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) transmits from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a narration like this one, similar to the preceding narration, and in it these words are additional: One day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the morning prayer, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is the wolf, and this wolf has come to you to ask that you give it something or that you make it a sharer in your wealth." A man threw a stone at it, and it went away, (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) it turned away, and it was howling.
Al-Bazzar recorded it and he says: This addition was transmitted by the narrator Jarir; besides him we do not know of anyone who narrated it. The narrators of this narration are the narrators of the Sahih, except Ziyad bin Abi al-Awbar, and he is thiqah (trustworthy).
