Aban bin Salman narrates from his father Salman: The account of how Sayyiduna Qubath bin Ashyam al-Laythi (may Allah be pleased with him) accepted Islam is that some men, Arabs and people from other lands, came to him and said: Sayyiduna Muhammad bin Abd al-Muttalib (peace and blessings be upon him) has come out and is calling to a religion other than our religion. So Qubath got up and came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "O Qubath! Sit down!" He remained silent in a state of anger. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Are you the one who said: If all the women of Quraysh came out, they would drive back Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and his companions?" Qubath said: By the One who sent you with the truth! My tongue did not move with this, my lips did not utter these words, and no one heard it from me; it was only something that I thought in my heart. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah Almighty, He alone is God, and I bear witness that Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah, and that what you have brought is the truth.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains narrators whom I do not know. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: The account of Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) has already passed in the chapter on the Battle of Badr, and the account of Dhu al-Jawshan has passed in the chapter on "the Battle of the Conquest". Besides this there is the hadith narrated by Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) concerning Sayyiduna Khuzaymah bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him), who was in the caravan of Sayyidah Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her); it has passed in the chapter on the wonders of creation. The hadith narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Busr (may Allah be pleased with him) will come in the chapter on his virtues, and other reports will also come.
