Majma al-Zawaid 14059 — The private and public conduct of the Prophet
عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْجَزَّارِ قَالَ : دَخَلَ نَفَرٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - عَلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فَقَالُوا : يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ حَدِّثِينَا عَنْ سِرِّ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ . قَالَتْ : كَانَ سِرُّهُ وَعَلَانِيَتُهُ سَوَاءً . ثُمَّ نَدِمَتْ قَالَتْ : أَفْشَيْتُ سِرَّ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ . قَالَتْ : فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ أَخْبَرْتُهُ فَقَالَ : " أَحْسَنْتِ " . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ وَقَالَ : عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، وَرِجَالُهُمَا رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Yahya bin al-Jazzar narrates: Some of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) and asked: O Mother of the Believers! Tell us about the private affairs of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The private and public affairs of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) are alike. Then she became regretful; she thought: I have disclosed the private affair of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). She narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came home, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You did well."
Imam Ahmad and Imam al-Tabarani recorded it, and (al-Tabarani) said: It is reported from Yahya, from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her). The narrators of both these narrations are the narrators of the "Sahih".
