Sayyiduna Abbas bin Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Abd al-Muttalib said: I went to Yemen on one of my two yearly journeys, and I stayed with a Jewish man. A man from one of the places of worship there saw me; he asked me about my lineage, and I stated my lineage to him. He said: "Will you permit me to examine your body?" I said: "All right, as long as it is not the private parts." He opened one of my nostrils and looked, then he looked into the other, and said: "I bear witness that in one of your hands there is kingship and in the other there is prophethood, but we find that this will also be connected with Banu Zuhrah, so how can that be?" I said: "I do not know." He asked: "Do you have a companion?" I said: "What is meant by a companion?" He said: "A wife." I said: "At present I have none." He said: "When you go back, marry among Banu Zuhrah." Abd al-Muttalib came back and married Halah bint Wuhayb bin Abd Manaf bin Zuhrah, and Sayyiduna Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him) was born to him. He married his son (Abdullah) to Aminah bint Wahb, and Quraysh said: "Abdullah has competed with his father." Aminah gave birth to Abdullah's son, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyiduna Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him) was also the foster brother of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), because Thuwaybah, the slave-woman of Abu Lahab, had nursed both of them, and Sayyiduna Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him) was older than the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Abdul Aziz bin Imran, and he is matruk (abandoned).
