Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) states: Khalid bin Sinan was mentioned before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He was a prophet whom his people neglected."
Al-Bazzar and al-Tabarani recorded it, but al-Tabarani transmitted these words: "The daughter of Khalid bin Sinan came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spread out his cloth for her." Its chain contains Qays bin al-Rabi', whom Shu'bah and al-Thawri declared thiqah (trustworthy), but despite his piety Ahmad and Yahya bin Ma'in declared him da'if (weak). This narration contradicts the sahih (authentic) hadith in which the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is mentioned: "I am the closest of people to Sayyiduna Isa bin Maryam (peace be upon him); the prophets are paternal half-brothers, and there is no prophet between me and Sayyiduna Isa (peace be upon him)." Al-Bazzar says: Al-Thawri also transmitted this narration from Salim from Sa'id bin Jubayr as mursal.
