Sayyiduna Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about a man who performs ablution, doing it well, and then wipes over his leather socks, but whenever he is about to pray, he takes them off and performs ablution. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No! He should wipe over them (the leather socks)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir as a report of Ishaq bin Yahya from Sayyiduna Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him), even though he did not live in the time of Sayyiduna Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him).
