Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says: A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Give me something to wear. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned away from him. He again said: O Messenger of Allah! Give me something to wear. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Do you not have a neighbour who has two spare garments?" The man replied: Yes, I do! More than one. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty will not bring you and him together in Paradise."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, al-Mundhir bin Ziyad al-Ta'i, and he is matruk (abandoned).
