عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " مَنْ بَرَّ قَسَمَهُمَا وَقَضَى دَيْنَهُمَا وَلَمْ يَسْتَسِبَّ لَهُمَا ، كُتِبَ بَارًّا وَإِنْ كَانَ عَاقًّا فِي حَيَاتِهِ ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَبَرَّ قَسَمَهُمَا وَيَقْضِي دَيْنَهُمَا وَاسْتَسَبَّ لَهُمَا ، كُتِبَ عَاقًّا وَإِنْ كَانَ بَارًّا فِي حَيَاتِهِ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ .
Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever fulfils the oath of the two of them (that is, his parents), pays off their debt and does not cause them to be reviled, is recorded as dutiful, even if he was disobedient during their lifetime. And whoever does not fulfil their oath, does not pay off their debt and causes them to be reviled, is recorded as disobedient (to his parents), even if he was obedient to them during their lifetime."
