Majma al-Zawaid 13424 — Helping one's child to be dutiful
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " أَعِينُوا أَوْلَادَكُمْ عَلَى الْبِرِّ ، مَنْ شَاءَ اسْتَخْرَجَ الْعُقُوقَ لِوَلَدِهِ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ مَنْ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُمْ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Help your children towards righteousness (or good conduct). Whoever wishes can draw disobedience out of his child."
