Sayyiduna Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The thickness of the earth is the distance of a journey of five hundred years, and between the upper part of the earth and the lowest heaven is a journey of five hundred years, or between it is a distance of five hundred years; and between the second heaven too is the same distance; between each earth is the same distance; between the uppermost earth and the heaven is a distance of five hundred years; the thickness of the heaven is five hundred years; and from the seventh heaven up to the Throne is a distance as great as the distance between all of these."
Al-Bazzar recorded it. Its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except that Abu Nasr Humayd bin Hilal did not hear from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him). The hadith narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) has already passed earlier, in the chapter concerning the tafsir of Surah al-Hadid.
