Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 13260

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Beware of the pieces of these two marked games (that is, chess or backgammon), both of which are driven along (perhaps meaning that in this game the opponent's piece is struck down), for they are the gambling of the non-Arabs."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it. The narrators of al-Tabarani are the narrators of the Sahih.
