Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 13159

Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The one whose counsel is sought is entrusted. When he is consulted, let him advise what he would do for himself."
This narration was recorded by Imam al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat from his teacher Ahmad bin Zuhayr, from Abd al-Rahman bin Anbasah al-Basri, and I do not know either of them. The remaining narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).
