وَعَنْ أَبِي بَرْزَةَ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " أَلَا إِنَّ الْكَذِبَ يُسَوِّدُ الْوَجْهَ ، وَالنَّمِيمَةُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ " . رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ زِيَادُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ وَهُوَ كَذَّابٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Barzah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Beware! Lying blackens the face, and talebearing is a cause of the punishment of the grave."
Abu Ya'la and al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Ziyad bin al-Mundhir, who is a liar (kadhdhab).
