عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَيَلُومُ عَلَى الْعَجْزِ ، فَابْذُلْ مِنْ نَفْسِكَ الْجَهْدَ ، فَإِنْ غُلِبْتَ فَقُلْ : تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ ، أَوْ حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ الشَّهْرُزُورِيُّ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah Almighty blames (a person) for helplessness. So exert your utmost effort, and if you are overcome, say: 'Tawakkaltu 'ala Allah' (I have put my trust in Allah), (the narrator is unsure whether the words were:) 'Hasbiya Allahu wa ni'ma al-wakil' (Allah is sufficient for me, and He is the best Disposer of affairs)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Muhammad bin al-Mughirah al-Shahrazuri, who is da'if (weak).
