Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from reviling anyone, and he said: "If one of you must revile his companion, let him not make a false accusation against him, nor revile his parents, nor revile his people. Rather, if he knows (that this fault is in that person), let him say: 'You are a miser,' or say: 'You are a coward,' or say: 'You are a liar,' or say: 'You are contemptible.'"
Al-Tabarani and al-Bazzar recorded it. The chain of al-Bazzar contains a matruk (abandoned) narrator, and the chain of al-Tabarani contains a majhul (unknown) narrator.
