وَعَنِ الْقَاسِمِ مَوْلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ : دَخَلْتُ مَسْجِدَ دِمَشْقَ فَرَأَيْتُ نَاسًا مُجْتَمِعِينَ وَشَيْخٌ يُحَدِّثُهُمْ . قُلْتُ : مَنْ هَذَا ؟ قَالُوا : سَهْلُ بْنُ الْحَنْظَلِيَّةِ ، فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " مَنْ أَكَلَ لَحْمًا فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ مِنْ طَرِيقِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ . وَسُلَيْمَانُ لَمْ أَرَ مَنْ تَرْجَمَهُ . وَالْقَاسِمُ مُخْتَلَفٌ فِي الِاحْتِجَاجِ بِهِ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ مِنْ طَرِيقِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ . وَسُلَيْمَانُ لَمْ أَرَ مَنْ تَرْجَمَهُ . وَالْقَاسِمُ مُخْتَلَفٌ فِي الِاحْتِجَاجِ بِهِ .
Al-Qasim, the freedman of Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah, says: I entered the mosque of Damascus and saw some people gathered while an elderly man was narrating hadith to them. I asked: Who is this? The people said: This is Sayyiduna Sahl bin al-Hanzaliyyah. (Al-Qasim says:) I heard him say: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever eats meat should perform ablution."
Ahmad recorded it by way of Sulayman bin Abi al-Rabi' from al-Qasim Abu Abd al-Rahman. I have not seen anyone give the biography of the narrator Sulayman, and there is disagreement about using the narrator al-Qasim as evidence.
