بَابٌ فِيمَنْ بَادَرَ الْعَاطِسَ بِالْحَمْدِ

Majma al-Zawaid 12909 — One who praises Allah before the sneezer
عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - :
" مَنْ بَادَرَ الْعَاطِسَ بِالْحَمْدِ عُوفِيَ مِنْ وَجَعِ الْخَاصِرَةِ ، وَلَمْ يَشْتَكِ ضِرْسَهُ أَبَدًا " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ الْحَارِثُ الْأَعْوَرُ وَضَعَّفَهُ الْجُمْهُورُ وَوُثِّقَ ، وَمَنْ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُمْ .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever says the praise (of Allah) before the one who sneezes is protected from pain in the side, and he will never suffer pain in his molars."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains al-Harith al-A'war, whom the majority declared da'if (weak), though he was also declared trustworthy. Its chain also contains narrators whom I do not know.
