How to call one whose name one does not know

عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ جَارِيَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ قَالَ :
كُنْتُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَكَانَ إِذَا لَمْ يَحْفَظِ اسْمَ الرَّجُلِ قَالَ : " يَا ابْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الصَّغِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ أَيُّوبُ الْأَنْمَاطِيُّ أَوْ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ وَلَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Yazid bin Jariyah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I was present with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not remember a man's name, he would say to him: "O son of Abdullah (the servant of Allah)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Ayyub al-Anmati, or, according to the narrator's doubt, Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, and I do not know him. The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
