Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whenever two Muslims meet and one of them takes hold of the other's hand, it is binding upon Allah Almighty to be present at their supplication, and to forgive them both before their hands separate."
Ahmad, al-Bazzar and Abu Ya'la recorded it; however, he (Abu Ya'la) recorded these words: "It is binding upon Allah Almighty to answer the supplication of both of them, and to forgive them before their hands separate." The narrators of Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Maymun bin Ajlan, whom Ibn Hibban declared thiqah (trustworthy), and no one has called him da'if (weak).
