بَابٌ فِي الْجَمَاعَةِ يُسَلِّمُ أَحَدُهُمْ وَالْجَمَاعَةِ يَرُدُّ أَحَدُهُمْ
A group of whom one greets, and a group of whom one replies

عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ :
قِيلَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، الْقَوْمُ يَأْتُونَ الدَّارَ ، فَيَسْتَأْذِنُ وَاحِدٌ مِنْهُمْ ، أَيُجْزِئُ عَنْهُمْ جَمِيعًا ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " .
قِيلَ : فَيَرُدُّ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ ، أَيُجْزِئُ عَنِ الْجَمِيعِ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " .
قِيلَ : فَالْقَوْمُ يَمُرُّونَ ، فَيُسَلِّمُ وَاحِدٌ مِنْهُمْ أَيُجْزِئُ عَنِ الْجَمِيعِ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " .
قِيلَ : فَيَرُدُّ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ ، أَيُجْزِئُ عَنِ الْجَمِيعِ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ كَثِيرُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
قِيلَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، الْقَوْمُ يَأْتُونَ الدَّارَ ، فَيَسْتَأْذِنُ وَاحِدٌ مِنْهُمْ ، أَيُجْزِئُ عَنْهُمْ جَمِيعًا ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " .
قِيلَ : فَيَرُدُّ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ ، أَيُجْزِئُ عَنِ الْجَمِيعِ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " .
قِيلَ : فَالْقَوْمُ يَمُرُّونَ ، فَيُسَلِّمُ وَاحِدٌ مِنْهُمْ أَيُجْزِئُ عَنِ الْجَمِيعِ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " .
قِيلَ : فَيَرُدُّ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ ، أَيُجْزِئُ عَنِ الْجَمِيعِ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ كَثِيرُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
Sayyiduna Imam Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: It was said: "O Messenger of Allah! Some people come to a house, and one of them asks for permission; will that suffice for all of them?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes!" It was said: "If one person from among those people returns the greeting, will it suffice on behalf of all of them?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." It was said: "If some people are passing by and one of them gives the greeting of salam, will that suffice on behalf of all of them?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." It was said: "If one person from among those people returns the greeting, will it suffice on behalf of all the people?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes."
