Sayyiduna Jarir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Indeed, Allah Almighty grants for gentleness what He does not grant for harshness. When Allah Almighty loves a servant, He grants him gentleness. Whatever household is deprived of gentleness, its people are truly deprived." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: from this Companion, in the Sahih,
this narration is recorded with only these words: "Whoever is deprived of gentleness is deprived of good."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
