Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 12637

وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ : " إِنَّ مِنْ حُسْنِ إِسْلَامِ الْمَرْءِ قِلَّةَ الْكَلَامِ فِيمَا لَا يَعْنِيهِ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الثَّلَاثَةِ بِالرِّوَايَةِ الْأُولَى ، وَرِجَالُ أَحْمَدَ وَالْكَبِيرِ ثِقَاتٌ .
In one narration the words are: "Part of the excellence of a person's Islam is that he speaks little about what does not concern him."
Ahmad recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded the first version in all three of his books; the narrators of Ahmad and of al-Mu'jam al-Kabir are thiqat (trustworthy).
