وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو إِنْ طَالَ بِي عُمْرٌ ، أَنْ أَلْقَى عِيسَى بْنَ مَرْيَمَ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَإِنْ عَجَّلَ بِي مَوْتٌ ، فَمَنْ لَقِيَهُ مِنْكُمْ فَلْيُقْرِئْهُ مِنِّي السَّلَامَ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ بِإِسْنَادَيْنِ : مَرْفُوعٌ وَهُوَ هَذَا ، وَمَوْقُوفٌ ، وَرِجَالُهُمَا رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I hope that, if my life is prolonged, I will meet Sayyiduna Isa bin Maryam (peace be upon him); but if death comes to me soon, then whoever of you meets him should convey my greeting of peace to him."
Ahmad recorded it with two chains, one marfu' (attributed to the Prophet), which is this one, and one mawquf (stopping at the Companion), and the narrators of both are the narrators of the Sahih.
