In one narration the wording is: Once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting in a gathering and told those people about the one-eyed Dajjal. This narration has these additional words: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Mahyam!" This is a word which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say when he was asked about something; he would say: "Mahyam!" And this narration has these additional words: "Whoever of you is present in my gathering and has heard my words, let the one present convey it to those who are absent. And know that Allah Almighty is whole; He is not one-eyed, while the Dajjal will be one-eyed, one of his eyes will be missing, and between his two eyes will be written 'Kafir' (disbeliever), which literate and illiterate (everyone) will be able to read." Ahmad recorded all these narrations, and al-Tabarani recorded them through various routes. In one of its routes the words are: "The five years before his emergence will be years of drought." Its chain contains Shahr bin Hawshab, in whom there is weakness, though he has been declared trustworthy.
