بَابٌ فِيمَنْ دَاهَنَ وَسَكَتَ عَنِ الْحَقِّ وَأَهْلِ زَمَانِهِمْ .
One who compromises and keeps silent about the truth, and the people of their time

وَعَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَكُونُ فِي آخِرِ الزَّمَانِ أَقْوَامٌ إِخْوَانُ الْعَلَانِيَةِ أَعْدَاءُ السَّرِيرَةِ " . قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، كَيْفَ يَكُونُ ذَلِكَ ؟ قَالَ : " بِرَغْبَةِ بَعْضِهِمْ إِلَى بَعْضٍ وَبِرَهْبَةِ بَعْضِهِمْ مِنْ بَعْضٍ " . رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "In the last times there will be people who are brothers in public and enemies in secret. He said: O Messenger of Allah! How will that come about? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Because they will desire things from one another and also fear one another."
Al-Bazzar and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat recorded it; its chain contains Abu Bakr bin Abi Maryam, and he is da'if (weak).
