Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed Islam began as a stranger, and soon it will again become a stranger; so glad tidings to the strangers." The narrator asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Who is meant by the strangers?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Those who remain upright when (other) people become corrupt."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Abdullah bin Salih, the scribe of al-Layth, who is da'if (weak), though he has been declared trustworthy.
