Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Islam began as a stranger, and soon it will again become a stranger as it was at the beginning; so glad tidings to the strangers." (Al-Haythami says:) I say:
This narration is mentioned in the Sahih, but without the words: "so glad tidings to the strangers." Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains Layth bin Abi Sulaym, who is a mudallis. (Al-Haythami says:) I say: Before this, the hadith of four Companions narrated with a single chain has already passed, within another hadith, in the chapter on the division of the Ummah, a little earlier.
