Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Sannah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Islam began as a stranger, then it will again become a stranger as it was at first; so glad tidings to the strangers." It was asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Who are the strangers?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Those who remain upright when people become corrupt. By the One in whose hand is my soul, faith will rush towards Madinah just as floodwater rushes; by the One in whose hand is my soul, Islam will retreat to the area between these two mosques just as a snake retreats to its hole."
Abdullah and al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Ishaq bin Abdullah bin Abi Farwah, who is matruk (abandoned).
