Book of Tribulations (may Allah protect us from them)
بَابٌ فِيمَنْ يَأْمُرُ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَلَا يَفْعَلُهُ .
One who enjoins good but does not do it himself

وَعَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " أَتَيْتُ لَيْلَةَ أُسَرِيَ بِي عَلَى رِجَالٍ تُقْرَضُ شِفَاهُهُمْ بِمَقَارِيضَ مِنْ نَارٍ ، قُلْتُ : مَنْ هَؤُلَاءِ يَا جِبْرِيلُ ؟ قَالَ : هَؤُلَاءِ خُطَبَاءُ أُمَّتِكَ الَّذِينَ يَأْمُرُونَ النَّاسَ بِالْبِرِّ وَيَنْسَوْنَ أَنْفُسَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَتْلُونَ الْكِتَابَ أَفَلَا يَعْقِلُونَ " ،
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the night I was taken on the Mi'raj, I came upon some people whose lips were being cut with scissors of fire. I asked: 'O Jibril! Who are these people?' He said: 'These are the preachers of your Ummah who used to enjoin righteousness upon people and forget themselves, though they recited the Book. Did they not reason?'"
