Zayd bin Wahb narrates: Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) fell into a quarrel with some people of Quraysh. They came to him and beat him. Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) came out with a staff in his hand, climbed the pulpit, praised and glorified Allah Almighty, and then said: "O people! What have I to do with Quraysh? May Allah Almighty do such-and-such to Quraysh and such-and-such." These people went to a man and beat him, a man about whom I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say, addressing Sayyiduna Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him): "The rebellious group will kill you."
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and al-Tabarani in the three (Mu'jams) with the story abridged; its chain contains Ahmad bin Budayl al-Ramli, whom al-Nasa'i (may Allah have mercy on him) and others declared thiqah (trustworthy), and there is some weakness in him.
