Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 11923

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A servant remains a believer for a long period, then he dies in a state in which Allah Almighty is angry with him. And a servant remains a disbeliever for a long period, and then he dies in a state in which Allah Almighty is pleased with him. Whoever dies as one who taunts people to their faces, finds fault behind their backs and calls people by (offensive) nicknames, his distinguishing mark on the Day of Resurrection will be that Allah Almighty brands him upon his snout, that is, on both lips."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Abdullah bin Salih, whom Abd al-Malik bin Shu'ayb declared thiqah (trustworthy), while others declared him da'if (weak).
