وَعَنْ نَافِعٍ قَالَ : بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ عِنْدَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قُعُودًا إِذْ جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ : إِنَّ فُلَانًا يَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامَ لِرَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الشَّامِ ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ - رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ : إِنَّهُ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّهُ أَحْدَثَ حَدَثًا ، فَإِنْ كَانَ كَذَلِكَ فَلَا تَقْرَأَنَّ عَلَيْهِ مِنِّي السَّلَامَ ، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " سَيَكُونُ فِي أُمَّتِي مَسْخٌ وَقَذْفٌ وَهُوَ فِي أَهْلِ الزَّنْدَقَةِ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Nafi' says: Once we were sitting with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) when a man came to him and said: "So-and-so sends you his greetings of peace" (he said this about a man from the people of Syria). Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "It has reached me that he has adopted a new position (an innovation). If that is so, then do not convey my greetings of peace to him. I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Soon there will be (the punishment of) transformation and pelting with stones in my Ummah, and that (punishment) will be among the heretics (zanadiqah).'"
