Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 11758

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever has seen me in a dream, it is as though he has seen me while awake (that is, in reality he has seen me myself), and Satan cannot take on my form."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat and al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and his wording is: "Whoever has seen me in a dream, it is as though he has seen me while awake; and whoever has seen me has seen the truth, for Satan cannot take on my form and appearance." The narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).
