Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) reports from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (concerning the words of Allah Almighty): "For them are glad tidings in the life of this world." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is the good dream by which a believer is given glad tidings; it is one part of the forty-nine parts of prophethood. Whoever sees such a dream should tell (someone) about it; and whoever sees something other than that (that is, an unpleasant or frightening dream), it is from Satan, to make him grieve. That person should spit lightly to his left three times, remain silent, and not tell (anyone) about that dream."
Ahmad recorded it by way of Ibn Lahi'ah from Darraj; the hadith of both of them is hasan (good), though there is weakness in them. The remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
