Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When this surah was revealed: "When the help of Allah and the victory come", the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have been informed that my death is near, that I will pass away this very year.
Ahmad recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded it within a long hadith, whose wording is: When this surah was revealed: "When the help of Allah and the victory come", the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: I have been informed of my death. Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) began to weep; then the narrator mentioned the full hadith. Its chain contains Hilal bin Khabbab; Yahya said: He is thiqah (trustworthy) and ma'mun (reliable), and he did not deteriorate. Ibn Hibban declared him thiqah (trustworthy), though there is weakness in him; the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih. The chain of Ahmad contains Ata' bin al-Sa'ib, who suffered from mental confusion (ikhtilat).
