Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 11459

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates concerning this saying of Allah Almighty, Allah Almighty says: "It (Hell) throws up sparks (as huge) as palaces." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "They will not be like trees or mountains; rather, they will be like cities and fortresses (in their huge size)."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Hudayj bin Mu'awiyah, who is da'if (weak). Abu Hatim said: "His standing is truthfulness (mahalluhu al-sidq); his hadith is to be written down." The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
