وَعَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ : كُنَّا نُسَمِّيهَا فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - الْمَانِعَةَ ، وَإِنَّهَا فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ ، سُورَةٌ مَنْ قَرَأَهَا فِي لَيْلِهِ فَقَدْ أَكْثَرَ وَأَطْيَبَ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: In the blessed time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we used to call this surah "the one that prevents" (the punishment of the grave). It is a surah in the Book of Allah; whoever recites it at night will have done much (recitation) and done well.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
