Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 11371

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated (Allah Almighty says): "Then he drew near, and came nearer still." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: This refers to Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), who drew near and then came nearer still to his Lord.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains the narrator Ata' bin al-Sa'ib, who had suffered from ikhtilat (deterioration of memory).
