Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 11306

Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) concerning this saying of Allah Almighty: "So he began to cut through their legs and necks." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (What is meant here by the word "mash" used in the verse) is that he cut their legs and their necks.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Sa'id bin Bashir, whom Shu'bah and others declared thiqah (trustworthy), while Yahya bin Ma'in and others declared him da'if (weak); the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
